2020 SEASON WRAP UP

2020 PRESIDENT WRAP UP

Without a doubt, 2020 was one of the most extortionary seasons I have ever been involved with and one I know we will look back on in time and reflection a little differently.

A big thank you to everyone involved in getting the season under way.
A huge amount of work was done just to get the teams back up and training and eventually back to a shortened season.
Initially the coaches had to approach the planning of training in a completely different way, which I must say was done without quarrel by most and in a very professional way.

Special mention must go to this year’s Committee who adapted to the change and got on with what ever was required to make the season possible at a club level.
I would especially like to thank the Executive Committee of Dave Jacobson, Jodie Bain and Sean Walsh whom have assisted me greatly this season and put in a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes.
Also, to our Registrar Sherice who with out a doubt in her first year in the role had much busier year than normal.
I would also like to offer a big thank you the Committee Members who are leaving the club this year for effort they have put in to make the High Wycombe JFC the success it is today.

Unfortunately we where unable to celebrate the clubs 50th year with all the “glitz and glamor” that was planned by the 50 year sub committee but thanks to their efforts we still managed to run a successful function for the life members and club sponsors which was very well received.
This was all so done in conjunction with the official opening of the lights at Scott Reserve which is a great achievement for the community.
Thank you – Renee, Dionne, Jen, Jodie, Lisa, Renae and Sherice.

There are plans to continue the 50th year celebrations into 2021 as 1971 was the first year a team played in the Swan Districts competition.

I would like to acknowledge past President Floyd Sullivan for the tireless amount of work he has put in over the last 5 years to making the lighting dream a reality.
The quality of lighting at Scott Reserve is now second to none!
It was so great to see the Girls competition come to Scott Reserve and be able to play at “home” something that has never happened before. This in turn brought a special atmosphere to the club on Friday nights which was great to see.

Congratulations to the year 8’s and 9’ that did well enough during the home and away season this year to make it to the Grand final in their respective divisions, with the 8’ coming away with a fantastic victory, which in my opinion is a direct reflection on the amount of work Coach Rob Rowlands and his team have put into the playing group this season.
Unfortunately, the 9’ where unable to come away with a victory, bust must be commended for their effort with this being the second grand final they have played in in two years again a fantastic achievement.
To the year 12’s who have now come to the end of their junior football days what a great group of young men, I wish you all the best in your future football endeavours, be sure to come back and share your footy knowledge with our future players.

To all the award winners this season congratulations on a great season.

The last thing I would like to say is we have got a great club at High Wycombe and clubs require people to make the function, as I mention earlier we have a number of committee members moving on this year and are looking for people to replace them, so be involved come along make a difference and join the committee you will not regret it.
